A RESOLUTION authorizing the County Executive to execute, on behalf of Jackson County, consents to the First Amendment to the Kauffman Stadium Redevelopment Agreement and the 2007 Amendment to the 2006 Amended Lease, both between the Jackson County Sports Complex Authority and the Kansas City Royals Baseball Corporation.

WHEREAS, by Resolution 15797, dated February 21, 2006, the Legislature did authorize the County Executive to execute, on behalf of Jackson County, a consent to a new twenty-five year lease agreement between the Jackson County Sports Complex Authority and the Kansas City Royals Baseball Corporation, concerning the Royals continued occupancy of Kauffman Stadium at the County's Harry S. Truman Sports Complex; and,
WHEREAS, by Resolution 15831, dated March 20, 2006, the Legislature did authorize the County Executive to execute a consent to the Kauffman Stadium Development Agreement between the Authority and the Royals, also concerning the occupancy of Kauffman stadium; and,
WHEREAS, since the execution of these documents, the Royals have requested certain modifications to more accurately reflect current plans for the stadium's redevelopment, and the allocation of the Royals contribution for stadium improvements; and,
WHEREAS, the attached First Amendment to the Kauffman Stadium Development Agreement and 2007 Amendment to 2006 Amended Lease adequately incorporates the desired revisions; and,
WHEREAS, in order for these documents to take effect, the County, through the Legislature, must consent; and,
WHEREAS, consent to these documents is in the best interests of the health, welfare, and safety, of the citizens of Jackson County; now therefore,
