Body
WHEREAS, the County has been awarded a grant in the amount of $30,000.00 by the Missouri Department of Transportation-Office of Highway Safety for the use of the Sheriff's Office Hazardous Moving Violations program targeting alcohol impaired drivers for the grant period of October 1, 2005 to September 30, 2006; and,
WHEREAS, Jackson County ranks 1st in the State of Missouri in alcohol-related crashes and 2nd in overall crashes and this grant will fund reimbursement of overtime used for setting up enforcement targeted at high risk and hazardous drivers; and,
WHEREAS, an appropriation is necessary to place the grant monies in the proper spending accounts and the execution of a cooperative agreement drafted by the State of Missouri ("Contract"), a copy of which is attached hereto, is required for the use of the grant award; and,
WHEREAS, no local match is required for this grant; and,
WHEREAS, the County Executive recommends this appropriation as an amendment to her proposed 2005 County budget; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following appropriation be and hereby is made:
