A RESOLUTION congratulating Elizabeth Ossorio upon her induction into the Order of Distinguished Older Missourians.

Body
WHEREAS, for the fourteenth year, the Order of Distinguished Older Missourians has inducted worthy individuals into the Order; and,
WHEREAS, five inductees are selected annually based on their contributions to the quality of life of the elderly, their families, and their caregivers; and,
WHEREAS, one of the year 2000's inductees is Elizabeth Ossorio, a woman who has positively affected the lives of many older and younger people; and,
WHEREAS, through her struggles to find quality housing and health care for her developmentally disabled son, Mark, she became an activist in serving on boards to ensure that these issues were addressed and initiated work programs in group homes; and,
WHEREAS, Elizabeth has also been instrumental in strengthening ties between governments, social service agencies which deal with the aging, and agency clients; and,
WHEREAS, she is known as a mentor to others and always looks to her work as a challenge, not a problem; and,
WHEREAS, Elizabeth is to be highly praised for the countless hours she has dedicated to the task of seeing that older and younger Americans live lives free of fear and insecurity; therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates Elizabeth Ossorio upon her induction into the Order of Distinguished Older Missourians and thanks her for her many years of helping to improve the quality of life of older and younger persons.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
