AN ORDINANCE appropriating $14,000.00 from the fund balance of the 2010 Grant Fund in acceptance of the Sheriff's Office "DWI Multiple Offender Enforcement" grant awarded by the Missouri Department of Transportation, Highway Safety Division, and authorizing the County Executive to execute a contract with the Missouri Highway Safety Division for the expenditure of the grant funds.

Body
WHEREAS, the Missouri Department of Transportation, Highway Safety Division, has awarded the Sheriff's Office a "DWI Multiple Offender Enforcement" grant in the amount of $14,000.00 for the period October 1, 2010, through September 30, 2011; and,
WHEREAS, in Jackson County more than 11% of the DWI arrests in 2009 were repeat offenders; and,
WHEREAS, the Sheriff recommends the use of the grant funds for reimbursement of overtime used to monitor habitual DWI offenders and habitual unlicensed drivers through the use of the license plate reader acquired last year; and,
WHEREAS, an appropriation is necessary to place the grant funds in the appropriate spending accounts; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following appropriation from the fund balance of the 2010 Grant Fund be and hereby is made:
