Body
WHEREAS, Eva Pontalion, Judge Clerk for the Jackson County Board of Election Commission, is retiring after 24 years of valuable service to the Jackson County voters and Jackson County Board of Election Commissioners; and,
WHEREAS, the number of registered voters in Jackson County has increased nearly 80,000 since she first came to work part-time for the County on September 16, 1976; and,
WHEREAS, her special duties and accomplishments included coordinating election judges for 143 elections, representing a total of 75,477 election judges to work in 15,648 polls; and,
WHEREAS, Eva helped establish a judge database and assisted in judge training sessions; and,
WHEREAS, she assisted in two county-wide redistricting projects; and,
WHEREAS, Jackson County Election Board Director Charlene Davis said, "The best thing Eva ever did was always get the judges to the polls on election day. She would break out in hives, out of nervousness, but it always worked out. The judges were always there at the polls at 5:15 a.m ;" and,
WHEREAS, Eva is the wife of Thomas Pontalion of Independence, Missouri. They have two sons Rick and Thomas, a daughter-in-law, Leann and a granddaughter, Kensley; and,
WHEREAS, Eva wants to retire to spend more time with her family and travel; and,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates Eva Pontalion on her 24 years with Jackson County, and wishes her well on her retirement and all future endeavors.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
