Body
WHEREAS, Hilda Fuentes, Chief Executive Officer of Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center, was recently awarded the Missouri Primary Care Association's annual Samuel U. Rodgers Achievement Award; and,

WHEREAS, this prestigious award was established by the Missouri Primary Care Association's Board of Directors in 2000 and was named after Dr. Sam Rodgers of Kansas City, a pioneer in community health who founded the first federally recognized community health center west of the Mississippi over 40 years ago; and,

WHEREAS, Ms. Fuentes was selected for this honor because, under her leadership, the Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center has increased the population it serves by 22 percent; and,

WHEREAS, Ms. Fuentes has led the way in the construction of a new, larger facility adjacent to the existing health center, slated to open in 2012, which will allow it to serve an additional 7,200 patients; and,

WHEREAS, Samuel U. Rodgers' expanded services have also included opening an additional practice office at the Clay County Public Health Center, a new dental practice office at the J.A. Rogers School in Kansas City, MO, and providing medical services to the residents at Sheffield Place, a shelter for women and their children; and,

WHEREAS, Ms. Fuentes has a master of science degree in public administration from Eastern Michigan University and a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Southeastern University in Washington, D.C; and,

WHEREAS, prior to joining Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center in 2005, Ms. Fuentes served as the deputy director and division chief for the Kansas Cit...
