Body
WHEREAS, Courtney (Niki) Fletcher of Raytown High School was named by The Kansas City Star as her school's Scholar-Athlete of the Year for 2002; and,
WHEREAS, Niki ranks twelfth in her class of 270, with a 3.89 grade point average on a 4.0 scale; and,
WHEREAS, she has seven varsity letters, two in volleyball, two in basketball, and three in soccer; and,
WHEREAS, in 2000 she was first team all district in volleyball and in 2001 she was first team all-conference in soccer and second team all-conference and all-district in volleyball; and,
WHEREAS, she was her school's 2000-2001 junior female athlete of the year and served three years as varsity soccer team captain and two years as varsity volleyball team captain; and,
WHEREAS, Niki is a three-year member of the National Honor Society and received outstanding achievement awards in Math from 1999 through 2001; and
WHEREAS, she served on the yearbook staff for two years, with one year as editor; and
WHEREAS, Niki worked as a legal office assistant last summer, sings in the Youth Choir at the First Baptist Church, and volunteers time tutoring at her school; and,
WHEREAS, Niki is the daughter of David and Mary Fletcher of Raytown; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates Courtney (Niki) Fletcher upon being named by The Kansas City Star as her school's Scholar-Athlete of the Year for 2002.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
