AN ORDINANCE appropriating $58,008.00 from the undesignated fund balance of the 2020 Grant Fund and authorizing the County Executive to execute an agreement with the United States Department of Justice in acceptance of a grant awarded by the Office of Justice Programs to the County for the purpose of allowing the purchase of equipment to provide for adequate social distancing in the conduct of registration activities in connection with the fight against the ongoing Coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic.

WHEREAS, the Sheriff's Office has received a grant from the U.S. Office of Justice Programs to fund the purchase of equipment to be used by the Sex Offender Registration Enforcement Unit in connection with the ongoing Coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic; and,
WHEREAS, the funding from this grant will allow the Sex Offender Registration Enforcement Unit to conduct required offender registration with increased social distancing and/or in alternate locations during the Coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic; and,
WHEREAS, this grant does not require matching funds and its term expires on January 31, 2022; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following appropriation be and hereby is made:
