Body
WHEREAS, Kevin Hartnett, Lee's Summit High School sophomore and son of Bob and Gina Hartnett, was awarded first place honors for his original composition in the Senior Fine Art Division of the University of Missouri - Columbia's "Creating Original Music" Project; and,
WHEREAS, Kevin's original composition, entitled "Indignation," was performed April 14, 2007, at the competition; and,
WHEREAS, in 2006 Kevin won honorable-mention honors in the same competition for another of his string orchestra compositions, "The Cobblestone;" and,
WHEREAS, Kevin is a member of the Symphony Orchestra, Concert Choir, and Touch of Class Chamber Choir at Lee's Summit High School, where he has lettered in both music and academics; and,
WHEREAS, Kevin has received recognition for his excellence in music by being selected for the All-District Orchestra, earning I ratings in viola solos and duets at district and state music contests, winning the Bernard Campbell Middle School Outstanding Orchestra Student award, earning second place in the PTSA Reflections Contest for "Cobblestone Path," and performing with the district's middle-school strolling strings group, Summit Strollers; and,
WHEREAS, Kevin plays the viola, violin, and piano, is involved in the community by giving private violin lessons to local students, and is a member of the Lee's Summit High School soccer team; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates Kevin Hartnett for placing first in the Senior Fine Art Division of the University of Missouri - Columbia's "Creating Original Music" Project and e...
