Body
WHEREAS, the Raytown C-2 School District established its mentoring program in 1994 through a grant from the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation and Trusts, originally known as Youth Friends - A Mentoring Program; and,
WHEREAS, over the past three decades, this program has evolved into RayFriends, a districtwide initiative serving students in all 20 Raytown District Schools; and,
WHEREAS, since its inception, RayFriends has fostered meaningful and supportive relationships between hundreds of mentors and mentees, contributing to the academic, social, and emotional growth of students throughout the District; and,
WHEREAS, the District currently supports approximately three dozen mentees who benefit from the time, encouragement, and individualized guidance provided by dedicated community volunteers; and,
WHEREAS, Raytown District Schools proudly partners with Caring for Kids, whose collaborative five-step process-preparation, roundtable connection, action planning, implementation, and sustainability-has strengthened the District's ability to connect students with volunteers and essential resources; and,
WHEREAS, the mission of RayFriends is to strengthen student learning and well-being by connecting caring community volunteers with students through consistent, meaningful support, fostering confidence, building positive relationships, and helping every student develop the skills and resilience needed to succeed in school and beyond; and,
WHEREAS, RayFriends has demonstrated measurable positive outcomes, including increased student engagement, stronger social-emotional skills, improved behavior, higher aspirations for postsecondary education and careers, and a more positive and supportive school climate; now therefore,
