Body
WHEREAS, section 526., Jackson County Code, 1984, authorizes the Chief Financial Officer to make lump sum payments, upon the recommendation of the County Counselor, in settlement of claims brought against the County; and,

WHEREAS, section 610.021(1) requires that upon the signing of a settlement agreement by the parties or the final disposition of the matter voted upon this resolution be made public, and,

WHEREAS, the County Counselor has recommended that the claim of County employee Kelli Hemstock be settled for the lump sum payment of $120,000.00; and,

WHEREAS, the Chief Financial Officer has requested the concurrence of the Legislature in this recommended settlement, and,

WHEREAS, the recommended settlement is in the best interests of the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens of Jackson County; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby does concur in the decision to settle the Title 7 claim of Kelli Hemstock for a lump sum payment in the amount of $120,000.00, and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution is to be made public pursuant to Section 610.021(1) upon the signing of a settlement agreement by the parties or the final disposition of this matter.


Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
