Body
WHEREAS, founded in 1915, the Friendship Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. G.W. Boyd, had its humble beginnings at the 150 block of 12th Street, then to a tent at 14th and Vine, and finally to 17th and Tracy all in Kansas City, Missouri; and,

WHEREAS, at the time of Rev. Boyd's death in 1918, the church had grown and consisted of Sunday School classes, a Young People's Department, a Deacon's Board, Mother's Board, and Choir; and,

WHEREAS, Friendship Baptist Church has been a beacon of hope and community service in Kansas City for 108 years, embarking on an ambitious project to establish a state-of-the-art Emanuel Lisk Center for Youth Development; and,

WHEREAS, the Emanuel Lisk Center for Youth Development aims to provide a safe, inclusive, and empowering space for the church's youth to develop their skills, talents, and character, enabling them to become exemplary leaders of tomorrow; and,
WHEREAS, the spiritual principals of Friendship Baptist Church are keeping God First by building lives through Christ, teaching and evangelizing through the Word of God with ongoing passion, and a commitment to a spirit-filled environment of family, fellowship, and community service; and,

WHEREAS, Rev. James Allen Terrance, Jr., of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, became the seventh pastor installed in March 2003, and as a result, Friendship Baptist Church continues to grow spiritually, numerically, and financially to serv...
