Body
WHEREAS, on October 10, 2009, Habitat for Humanity celebrated 30 years of service to the Greater Kansas City area; and,
WHEREAS, the celebration included a Prayer Breakfast and a 30th Birthday Party; and,
WHEREAS, Habitat for Humanity Kansas City was founded in 1979, and is the seventh oldest affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International; and,
WHEREAS, Habitat for Humanity International was founded in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller; and,
WHEREAS, today, through the work of Habitat for Humanity, thousands of low-income families have found hope and opportunity in the form of affordable housing; and,
WHEREAS, Habitat for Humanity Kansas City's mission is to provide quality, affordable homes to qualified families based on the attitude found in Leviticus 25:35-37, "If a brother living near you becomes poor, you must provide for him...do not make a profit on the goods you sell him"; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates Habitat for Humanity Kansas City on the occasion of its 30th Anniversary, and expresses sincere gratitude for their tireless efforts and noble work in providing homes to families in need.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
