Body
WHEREAS, access to high-quality, culturally competent healthcare is essential to the health, safety, and well-being of all residents; and,
WHEREAS, healthcare organizations throughout Jackson County and the Kansas City metropolitan area have worked to ensure that LGBTQ+ residents receive compassionate, affirming, and evidence-based care; and,
WHEREAS, organizations including KC CARE Health Center, Vivent Health, University Health, and Children's Mercy Kansas City have demonstrated leadership in providing healthcare, prevention services, behavioral health support, patient advocacy, education, and community outreach that benefit LGBTQ+ individuals and families; and,
WHEREAS, the efforts of healthcare professionals, public health advocates, social workers, counselors, case managers, and support staff have improved the lives of countless residents and strengthened the health of the broader community; and,
WHEREAS, recognizing and supporting inclusive healthcare contributes to healthier communities and improved outcomes for all residents of Jackson County; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby recognizes the healthcare organizations, providers, and professionals whose work has advanced the health and well-being of LGBTQ+ residents throughout Jackson County; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Legislature expresses its appreciation to those organizations and individuals whose dedication, compassion, and leadership continue to improve access to quality healthcare and supportive services for all res...
