INTRODUCED BY Scott Burnett, Theresa Garza Ruiz, Henry C. Rizzo, Fred Arbanas, James D. Tindall, Dennis Waits, Dan Tarwater, Greg Grounds, and Bob Spence, County Legislators


Body
WHEREAS, the Northeast Kansas City neighborhoods and the Independence Avenue Corridor have experienced high numbers of calls for police service on prostitution and drug activities; and,

WHEREAS, all of the Northeast neighborhood associations; Columbus Park, Pendleton Heights, Scarritt Renaissance, Independence Plaza, Lykins, Indian Mound and Sheffield; and in addition the Northeast Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, and Old Northeast Inc. have tirelessly worked to address these severe problems in the neighborhood; and,

WHEREAS, these organizations have worked in addressing these serious problems by collaborating with all parties involved to come up with demand-deterrent strategies and other solutions that are both restorative and punitive; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature supports these neighborhood associations and community organizations in their efforts to address the pervasive problems of drug trafficking and prostitution.


Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
