Body
WHEREAS, the Jackson County Counselor has the duty under Article 5, Sections 6 & 7 of the Jackson County Charter to have charge of and conduct all civil law business of the County; and,

WHEREAS, the Jackson County Counselor works at the direction of both the Jackson County Legislature and Jackson County Executive; and,

WHEREAS, the first Jackson County Reapportionment Committee failed to provide a redistricting map as required by Section 18 of the Jackson County Charter, within the time frame required by the Charter; and,

WHEREAS, a second Jackson County Reapportionment Committee is in the process of being appointed to fulfill the duties set forth in Section 18 of the Jackson County Charter, under the order of Judge Torrence, Division 14 of the Jackson County Circuit Court who signed the order August 24, 2001, after a public hearing in which all parties were present and represented by counsel; and,

WHEREAS, Intervenor Thomas Wyrsch now submits his opposition to the section of the order that orders the Reapportionment Committee to submit to the Court a progress report after fifteen days as frivolous, unnecessary, and in conflict with the provision of the order that gives the Committee thirty days to draw a map; and,

WHEREAS, Intervenor Thomas Wyrsch, by and through his counsel, Ralph A. Monaco II and Aaron J. Racine will present to the Court a Motion to Amend to remove the fifteen day provision on September 12, 2001; therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature directs the County Counselor to not oppose the Motion to Amend to be filed by Mr. Wyrsch...
