Body
WHEREAS, by Resolution 13302, dated July 31, 2000, the Legislature did award a three (3) year contract pursuant to Request for Proposal 75-00 (RFP 75-00) for the furnishing of inmate pay telephone system and services for use by the Corrections Department to Sprint Payphone Services, Inc., of Overland Park, KS, with an option to extend that contract for two (2) additional one (1) year periods in the same terms; and,

WHEREAS, the County did exercise its option to extend the contract for the two (2) one year periods ending November 6, 2005; and,

WHEREAS, Sprint Payphone Services, Inc., has agreed to a six (6) month extension of the contract to May 5, 2006 with an option to extend for another six (6) month period to November 6, 2006; and,

WHEREAS, Sprint has agreed to continue to pay to the County the same guaranteed rate of commission; and,
WHEREAS, pursuant to Paragraph 11.4 of RFP 75-00, attached hereto as Exhibit A, Sprint Payphone Services, Inc., has proposed an immediate increase in the current rate charged to the called parties from 0.95ยข per 30-minute call to a new rate of $1.95 per 30-minute call at no cost to the County; and,

WHEREAS, the Director of Purchasing and the Director of the Corrections Department recommend this extension and proposed rate increase as being in the best interest of the County; and,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute for the County any documents necessary for an extension of the con...
