Body
WHEREAS, the Jack Ray Post 5789 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States was chartered on January 30, 1946, in Lee's Summit, Missouri; and,
WHEREAS, the members of Post 5789 have consistently rendered valuable service to the community and the nation in time of war and in time of peace; and,
WHEREAS, the Post continues to play an important role in the life of the citizens of Lee's Summit through its involvement in benefit programs for veterans, youth, senior citizens, and the community as a whole; and,
WHEREAS, Post 5789 has distinguished itself within the national organization by its selection as an All-State Post eighteen times, an All-American Post five times, and a National Community Service Post three times; and,
WHEREAS, Post 5789 has shown tremendous leadership qualities by serving as the home of one State Commander, five District Commanders, and one Quartermaster General; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature recognizes the Jack Ray Post 5789 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States as a model of leadership and a pillar of support to military veterans and the members of our community.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
