A RESOLUTION awarding a contract on Bid No. PW-2345 (Bid Package No. 8A) for general construction in connection with the expansion at the Jackson County Detention Center to Walton Construction Co., Inc., of Kansas City, MO, in the actual amount of $6,762,426.00, and authorizing the County Executive to approve additional expenditures under this contract at a cost not to exceed $338,121.00, for a total amount not to exceed $7,100,547.00.

WHEREAS, in connection with the Jackson County Detention Center expansion, the Purchasing Director has solicited formal written bids on Bid No. PW-2345 (Bid Package No. 8A) for general construction; and,
WHEREAS, he has received as the lowest three bids thereon bids from the following:

WHEREAS, the Purchasing Director has recommended that award be made to Walton Construction Co., Inc., of Kansas City, MO, for the reason that while not the lowest bid, it is the best bid submitted for the reason stated in the attached bid analysis and recapitulation; and,
WHEREAS, in the event that change orders to the contract become necessary, due to the time constraints involved in completion of this phase of work it is appropriate that the County Executive be given authority to approve additional expenditures under this contract not to exceed $338,121.00, which is approximately 5% of the contract amount; therefore,
