Body
WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City, Missouri, has received a grant from the Missouri Department of Public Safety in the amount of $156,782.00, as well as funding from the Kansas City, Missouri, School District in the amount of $156,781.00, and has pledged its own funds, in the amount of $78,391.00, for the City's "In School Truancy Prevention Project," the goals of which are to reduce chronic absenteeism, truancy, and long-term suspension in six target schools in the Kansas City, MO, School District; and,

WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City has requested County Anti-Drug Sales Tax matching funds in the amount of $78,391.00 to implement this program; and,

WHEREAS, this is the first year for this grant program; and,

WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney has reviewed this proposal and recommends the expenditure of these funds; therefore,


BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive is hereby authorized to enter into the agreement, a copy of which is attached and incorporated herein by reference, with the City of Kansas City; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of the Department of Finance be and hereby is authorized to make all payments, including final payment on the Agreement.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
