A RESOLUTION authorizing the County Executive to execute an Agreement with the Jackson County Sports Complex Authority to provide for the participation of the Authority's employees in the County's Cafeteria Benefits Plan.

Body
WHEREAS, the three employees of the Jackson County Sports Complex Authority are currently members of the Jackson County Employees' Pension Plan and the Disability Plan and enjoy certain other of the benefits offered to County employees; and,
WHEREAS, the Authority has requested that its employees be allowed to participate in the County's cafeteria benefits plan; and,
WHEREAS, in order to participate in the plan, it is necessary for the Authority's employees to be added to the County payroll; and,
WHEREAS, under this arrangement, the employees would continue to be employees of the Authority and not of the County, the Authority and County would remain separate legal entities, and the Authority would provide the County Finance Department with the funds necessary to meet the Authority's payroll obligation; and,
WHEREAS, this arrangement will have the additional benefit of saving the funds the Authority now expends to have a private firm prepare its payroll; and,
WHEREAS, the attached agreement provides a suitable mechanism by which to implement this arrangement; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute the attached Agreement with the Jackson County Sports Complex Authority.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
