Body
WHEREAS, the Jackson County Anti-Drug Sales Tax Fiscal Commission was empowered by Ordinance #1771, #1795 and #1941 to make recommendations to the Legislature for the expenditure of Anti-Drug Sales Tax Funds for the purposes of treatment and rehabilitation of drug offenders; and,
WHEREAS, the Legislature authorized local matching funds to grants through Ordinance 2214; and
WHEREAS, the Fiscal Commission has reviewed a proposal from Truman Medical Center for a program entitled "KC Pact;" and,
WHEREAS, the KC Pact program provides substance abuse prevention for pregnant women and is headquartered at TMC; and,
WHEREAS, this program is a collaborative effort involving several community organizations; and,
WHEREAS, KC Pact provides prenatal clinic educational efforts, a parenting specialist, volunteer coordinators, case management, a substance abuse coordinator, and an outreach nurse; and,
WHEREAS, the KC Pact program will receive funding from the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention; and,
WHEREAS, the Fiscal Commission has carefully reviewed this 1995 proposal from TMC; and,
WHEREAS, the Fiscal Commission has recommended funding in the amount of $120,041.15 from the Anti-Drug Sales Tax for TMC's proposal; therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive is hereby authorized to enter into the attached Agreement, a copy of which is incorporated herein by reference, with TMC; and
