Body
WHEREAS, businesses, public officials with a vision of the future, community organizations, and concerned citizens of Jackson County have long recognized the need and importance of promoting growth in downtown Kansas City; and,
WHEREAS, through collaborative efforts, a plan has been proposed to construct a multi-purpose arena in the downtown Kansas City area; and,
WHEREAS, such plan would provide for the arena to be built within walking distance of downtown hotels, restaurants, shops , and businesses; and,
WHEREAS, a multi-purpose arena would be a vital instrument in attracting more athletic events and teams, conventions, visitors, and new businesses to Jackson County and would breathe new life into downtown Kansas City; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature wholeheartedly endorses the construction of a multi-purpose arena to serve the downtown Kansas City area and the citizens of Jackson County.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
