WHEREAS, by Ordinance 3522, dated August 9, 2004, the Legislature did authorize a salary ratio for members of the Legislature based on the salary of a circuit judge in the State of Missouri by amending section 209. and 229., Jackson County Code, 1984; and,
WHEREAS, the Legislature believes it appropriate to repeal sections 209., Jackson County Code, 1984, as amended by Ordinance 3522 relating to the salary of certain elected officials; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, as follows:
Section A. Enacting Clause. Sections 209., Jackson County Code, 1984, is hereby repealed, and a new section enacted in lieu thereof, to be known as sections 209., to read as follows:
209. Legislature, Salary.
Pursuant to Article II, Section 16 (15), County Legislators will receive a[n] [annual] salary of $11,440.00 per annum [equal to 24% of the salary paid by the State of Missouri to circuit judges of the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit of Missouri as of January 1 of the year prior to the beginning of the Legislators' term] effective January 1, 1987 [2007]. [At no time shall the salary of Legislators ever be reduced as a result of this provision.]

Effective Date: This ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its signature by the County Executive.
