Body
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the public health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Jackson County that the Sheriff's jurisdiction to enforce the County's Petty Offense Code in County Municipal Court be extended throughout the entire County, in the same manner as the County's Traffic Code is enforced; now therefore

BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, as follows:

Section A. Enacting Clause.
Section 5500., Jackson County Code, 1984, is hereby repealed, and one new section enacted in lieu thereof, to be known as section 5500., to read as follows:

5500. Scope.
The provisions of this chapter shall apply [to the unincorporated area] throughout the territorial limits of Jackson County[, to all property belonging to the county wherever located in the county, and within the territorial limits of any city within Jackson County with which the county has entered into an intergovernmental agreement relating to enforcement of county ordinance violations].


Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its passage by the County Executive.
