Body
WHEREAS, each year a week is set aside by Presidential Proclamation in national observance of Minority Enterprise Development (MED); and,
WHEREAS, MED-Week, traditionally held in September and early October, emphasizes the importance of minority business and its contributions to national and local economies; and,
WHEREAS, those participating in MED-Week activities include over 1,500 minority businesses, and numerous corporations, government agencies, and civic/community leaders; and,
WHEREAS, MED-Week has planned many events intended to help minority business owners increase their education and awareness and, therefore, their opportunity to gain business; and,
WHEREAS, highlights of the events scheduled during MED-Week include a kick-off breakfast, tour of minority businesses in the metro area, Y2K seminar, and 1999 awards reception; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby proclaims the week of October 11 through October 15, 1999 as MED-Week in Jackson County, Missouri.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
