Body
WHEREAS, the Missouri Highway and Transportation Commission has received an application for and is considering the incorporation of a transportation corporation to be known as the "Westside Intermodal Transportation Corporation" and approval of the construction of a grade separation, to be known as the "Argentine Connection" and a major rehabilitation of the Kansas City Terminal Highline Bridge and elevated approaches; and,
WHEREAS, the area included in the construction of the Argentine Connection Project is a portion of the Kansas City Terminal Railway west of the Union Station, extending to the Missouri/Kansas state line, which would create a double-track connection into the Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Argentine yard from the Kansas City Railway trackage, located in Jackson County, Kansas City; and,
WHEREAS, the area included in the major rehabilitation of the Kansas City Terminal Highline Bridge Project is a portion of the Kansas City Terminal Railway of Union Station, also extending to the Missouri/Kansas state line, located in Jackson County, Kansas City; and,
WHEREAS, the Missouri Transportation Act, ยง 238.310.3, RSMo 2000, requires that any such project be approved by every county, city, town, and village in which all or part of the project may be located; and,
WHEREAS, the Public Works Director has reviewed the written application and the preliminary plans and specifications for the projects and recommends that the improvements as shown by such preliminary plans and specifications be undertaken; now therefore,
