Body
WHEREAS, in September of 1988, Jackson County Parks and Recreation employees were given the challenge to create, design, and construct a holiday wonderland that would benefit both the community and local charities; and,

WHEREAS, this drive-through event has been expanded every year and now includes over 175 displays, constructed with 245,000 lights; and,

WHEREAS, this magical, animated wonderland receives over 150,000 visitors annually; and,

WHEREAS, on October 27, 1997, the season's efforts of 2,600 man hours and nine previous years worth of tradition were destroyed by a senseless act of vandalism; and,

WHEREAS, 80% of all displays were destroyed, totalling 140 animated figures and 200,000 lights; and,

WHEREAS, knowing what Christmas In The Park means to the community, employees of Jackson County Parks and Recreation committed to an extraordinary effort of recreating and reconstructing 35 acres of family holiday tradition, meeting the scheduled opening date of November 26, 1997; and,

WHEREAS, all maintenance divisions, including Longview, Jacomo, Landahl Park, and the Equipment Repair Shop have worked multiple shifts, displaying a multitude of talent, with 3,581 hours going into its rebuilding; and,

WHEREAS, the dedicated employees of Jackson County Parks and Recreation who are to be highly commended for their extraordinary efforts are:
