INTRODUCED BY Theresa Cass Galvin and Dan Tarwater III, County Legislators

Body
WHEREAS, the ongoing Coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic has caused economic hardships to many members of our community; and,

WHEREAS, among those encountering such hardships are the operators of restaurants and other food service facilities and those who operate hotels, motels, and other temporary lodging establishments; and,

WHEREAS, the Legislature believes it is appropriate that these operators be offered some temporary relief from a portion of the fees charged by the county for certain food safety and environmental health permits and inspections; now therefore,

BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that, for calendar year 2021, the fees imposed for Jackson County food safety and environmental health permits and inspections, as set out in schedule I to chapter 40, Jackson County Code, 1984, except for the fee for aquatic venues, shall be reduced by 50% (fifty percent); and,

BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that any permit holder or facility operator who has already paid the designated 2021 fee for a permitted facility as of the effective date of this Ordinance, shall be entitled to receive a refund of the amount overpaid, upon proper application to the Jackson County Environmental Health Administrator, made on or before December 31, 2020, with such refunds to be governed by the procedures set out in section 554. of the County Code.
