Body
WHEREAS, the Lee's Summit West football team finished its 2007 season undefeated, with a record of 14-0, and with its first Missouri Class 4 state football championship since the school's opening in 2004; and,
WHEREAS, the Titans took their first state championship in a 35-0 victory over Parkway Central, a St. Louis team, at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis, Missouri; and,
WHEREAS, the team only allowed one opponent all season to score more than 19 points; and,
WHEREAS, the Titans advanced to the semifinals each of the two previous years before falling to teams who went on to win the championship; and,
WHEREAS, the team was coached to an amazing season by head coach Royce Boehm and assistant coaches Chris Barrows, Vinny Careswell, Derek Howard, Jereme Hubbard, Bill Warner, Joe Oswald, Limbo Parks, Brad Parson, Joel Staponski, Buddy Spurk, Bret Wagner, Brian Hartman and Terry Harris; and,
WHEREAS, the team motto all year was "Finish the Job," and now the inscription on its state championship rings reads "Job Finished"; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby recognizes and congratulates the Lee's Summit West football team on its outstanding performance during the 2007 season, and its Missouri Class 4 State Championship.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
