Body
WHEREAS, Ms. Alice Kitchen was born on August 23rd, 1942, and passed on Friday, November 14th, 2025, in Kansas City, MO at the age of 83 years old; and,
WHEREAS, Ms. Kitchen was an advocate for human rights serving in various roles as she was the Director of social services for Children’s Mercy Hospital, was on the Board of various boards and committees serving marginalized communities; and,
WHEREAS, Ms. Kitchen, was on the taskforce that helped mothers on the brink of losing custody of their children due to housing issues and drug use established Amethyst Place, a supportive housing program that has served mother and children for over 25 years, and,
WHEREAS, Ms. Kitchen, in addition to her tireless work in advocacy she was also a co-member of The Loretto Community since 2004; and,
WHEREAS, Ms. Kitchen will always be remembered for her great efforts in the Jackson County community; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED that the Jackson County Legislature formally recognizes and honors Ms. Alice Kitchen’s life and legacy.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
