Body
WHEREAS, Gene R. Martin was born on July 18, 1926, in Kansas City, Missouri, where he received his public education; and,

WHEREAS, prior to his legal career, Judge Martin served in the United States Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1945; and,

WHEREAS, Judge Martin received his J. D. degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1953; and,

WHEREAS, while obtaining his law degree, Judge Martin served as a deputy court clerk in the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri from 1951-1953, and after being admitted to the bar became associated with Wilbur B. Ennis, with whom he later formed a partnership known as Ennis, Browne & Martin; and,

WHEREAS, Judge Martin continued his practice of law with this firm until his appointment to the 16th Judicial Circuit bench in Jackson County on December 21, 1976; and,

WHEREAS, during his judicial career, Judge Martin served as Presiding Judge from 1989 to 1990; and,

WHEREAS, Judge Martin is a member of the Missouri Bar, an honorary member of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association and the Lawyers Association of Kansas City, MO, and has served as a member of the Missouri Supreme Court's Judicial Education Committee, Executive Council of the State Judicial Conference, Executive Committee of the State Presiding Judges, and Missouri Press-Bar Commission; and,

WHEREAS, he serves on the Board of Trustees of the University of Missouri-Kansas City Law Foundation, has served on numerous circuit court committees, and served ...
