AN ORDINANCE appropriating $3,318.00 from the unappropriated surplus of the 2000 Health Fund and authorizing the Director of the Department of Finance to issue a check in that amount to the Mid America Regional Council as a pass-through of funds received from the Missouri Department of Public Safety, Division of Fire Safety.

Body
WHEREAS, under Title III of the Superfund Amendment and Reauthorization Act, enacted by Congress in 1986, the County joined with other units of local government in the area to form the Mid-America Local Emergency Planning Committee, which is operated by the Mid America Regional Council (MARC); and,
WHEREAS, the operations of such committees are funded by the proceeds of a fee paid to the states by companies who have or store hazardous wastes at their facilities; and,
WHEREAS, the Missouri Department of Public Safety, Division of Fire Safety, has remitted to the County the sum of $3,318.00 as its share of these funds; and,
WHEREAS, the County is required to provide these funds to MARC to support the activities of the Local Emergency Planning Committee; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following appropriation be and hereby is made from the unappropriated surplus of the 2000 Health Fund:
