Body
WHEREAS, Dr. Tony Stansberry is retiring after serving as R-7 superintendent for ten years and after distinguished service in the field of education for thirty-eight years; and,

WHEREAS, Dr. Stansberry was recently honored with the National PTA Life Achievement award, the highest honor a PTA can bestow, which recognized him for his commitment and dedication to the Lee's Summit R-7 School District community; and,

WHEREAS, the National PTA Life Achievement award has been given since 1899 and pays tribute to those committed to serving children and youth through the promotion of excellence in education; and,

WHEREAS, Dr. Stansberry is recognized as a leader in education locally and statewide for his emphasis on student achievement and involving the community in district decisions; and,

WHEREAS, Dr. Stansberry has been instrumental in leading the Lee's Summit R-7 School District through extraordinary growth which included eight new schools, fourteen major additions to existing schools, a new R-7 administrative office, air conditioning of all schools lacking climate control, and instructional technology enhancements; and,

WHEREAS, other notable accomplishments include earning the district's full accreditation from the state, receiving Missouri's highest recognition for academic achievement, development of long-range strategic and facilities plans, initiation of a district-wide collaborative leadership process, and initiation of the district's TEAM Lee's Summit concept focusing on work-life and morale issues for staff; and,
