Body
WHEREAS, by Ordinance 5841 dated April 15, 2024, the Jackson County Legislature passed the 2023 JAG Grant awarded to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office; and,
WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, awarded to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office a Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) in the amount of $726,157.00, for the period October 1, 2022, to September 30, 2026; and,
WHEREAS, a twelve-month extension is needed for the continued funding for a contractual services portion of the grant funds distributed to the City of Kansas City for an extension date through September 30, 2027, at no cost to the County; and,
WHEREAS, offering this extension is in the best interest of the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Jackson County; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that award be made as recommended by Prosecuting Attorney and that the Interim Director of Finance and Purchasing be and hereby is authorized to execute any and all documents necessary to the accomplishment of this extension.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
