Body
WHEREAS, Hope House, New House, and Rose Brooks domestic violence shelters ("Shelters) are not-for-profit organizations providing assistance to victims of domestic violence; and,

WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the public health, safety, and welfare of the citizens
of Jackson County to provide assistance to the victims of domestic violence through funding of these shelters; and,

WHEREAS, pursuant to the Jackson County Code 8700, the Jackson County Board of Domestic Violence Shelters ("Board") was established to administer the distribution of fees collected pursuant to state statutes and the Jackson County Code; and,

WHEREAS, pursuant to ยง455.215.2 RSMo, on or before November 15, 2005, the Board or its designee must provide written notification to any domestic violence shelter that has applied for funding, whether it is eligible to receive funds, and if it is eligible, the amount available from the fees collected pursuant to state and county code; and,

WHEREAS, the Board has met and recommended an allocation of 90% of the projected 2006 budget revenues of $135,153.00 to be divided equally between the three eligible shelters, Hope House, New House, and Rose Brooks, in the amount of $40,545.90 each after January 1, 2006 and has provided the shelters tentative notification of the same; and,

WHEREAS, the Board will hold a second meeting in June 2006 to recommend allocations of the remaining balance of 10% based on further revenue projections for distribution to the three elig...
