RESOLUTION #14722, September 15, 2003

INTRODUCED BY Scott Burnett County Legislator

Body
WHEREAS, Section 1040.1 of the Jackson County Code, 1984, eliminates the requirement for competitive bidding when items to be purchased can be obtained from only one source; and,

WHEREAS, Section 1063.00 of the Code requires notification of and approval by the Legislature on such sole source purchases exceeding $5,000.00; and,

WHEREAS, the Purchasing Director recommends the award of a term and supply contract, for the purchase of ambulance services for use by the Department of Corrections to MAST Ambulance Services; and,

WHEREAS, the Purchasing Director further recommends that he not take competitive bids with regard to said contract for the reason that MAST Ambulance Services is the only known supplier providing ambulance services; therefore,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that award be made as recommended by the Purchasing Director, and that the Purchasing Director be, and is hereby, authorized to execute for the County a contract with MAST Ambulance Services of Kansas City, Missouri; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of the Department of Finance is authorized to make all payments, including final payment on the contract, to the extent that sufficient appropriations to the using spending agency are contained in the current Jackson County budget.
