Body
WHEREAS, by Resolution 14460, dated February 24, 2003, the Legislature did authorize a contract with the City of Kansas City to provide animal control services for unincorporated Jackson County, including the shelter of small domestic animals and the proper disposal of dead animals at a cost to the County of $23,000.00 in 2003; and,
WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works has requested the City of Kansas City to continue these services for the County, at a cost to the County not to exceed $18,000.00 for the remainder of 2004; and,
WHEREAS, the City remains capable of performing the desired services; and,
WHEREAS, the attached Intergovernmental Cooperative Agreement provides a satisfactory mechanism by which to accomplish this purpose; and,
WHEREAS, upon the expiration of this Agreement, these services will be consolidated with the animal control services which the County has also contracted to the City of Kansas City via Resolution 14846, dated December 15, 2003, into one master agreement; and,
WHEREAS, this Agreement is in the best interest of the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens of the County; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute an Intergovernmental Cooperative Agreement with the City of Kansas City, Missouri, in a form substantially similar to that attached, to be approved by the County Counselor; and,
