Body
WHEREAS, KGKC Telemundo Kansas City serves as the local Telemundo television station dedicated to informing, entertaining, and empowering the Spanish-speaking community throughout the Greater Kansas City metropolitan area, with its signal extending to Lawrence and Topeka, Kansas; and,
WHEREAS, Telemundo Kansas City provides vital news, sports and entertainment programming through multiple platforms, including over-the-air on KGKC channel 39, cable, satellite, streaming services, its website telemundokc.com, and social media channels; and,
WHEREAS, KGKC Telemundo Kansas City actively engages with the community through events centered on essential issues such as healthcare, education, and the celebration of heritage and culture, reflecting its commitment to community well-being and cultural preservation; and,
WHEREAS, KGKC is owned and operated by Sagamore Hill broadcasting and is an affiliate of NBC Universal Telemundo Enterprises, the leading U.S. producer of scripted Spanish-language content, reaching 95% of U.S. Hispanic TV households through 30 owned stations and 61 affiliate stations; and,
WHEREAS, Telemundo Deportes holds exclusive Spanish-language broadcasting rights to globally recognized sporting events, including the FIFA World Cup and the Summer Olympic Games, bringing these premier events to millions of Spanish-speaking viewers nationwide; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri that the Legislature hereby, proudly recognizes KGKC Telemundo Kansas City for its exceptional service, cultural advocacy, and community engagement that strengthens the Hispanic and Latino communities in Kansas City and beyond.
