Body
WHEREAS, the chair of the COMBAT Commission has requested that the Commission's program compliance monitor, a new position for 1996, be exempt from the provisions of the Merit System; and,

WHEREAS, at its regular meeting of June 5, 1996, considered this request and, pursuant to Article IX, 2 of the Constitutional Home Rule Charter of Jackson County, has recommended this exemption to the Legislature; and,

WHEREAS, since the position of program compliance monitor is new for 1996, it is necessary for the Legislature to establish a salary range for that position pursuant to Article II, 16(15) of the charter, and 287. of the County Code; and,

WHEREAS, the personnel director recommends that, inasmuch as the position of program compliance monitor would be a grade 12 position were it within the Merit System, it should receive the same non-merit range; and,

WHEREAS, the adoption of this ordinance is in the best interests of the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens of Jackson County; now therefore,

BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that, pursuant to Article IX, 2 of the Charter, the exemption of the position of program compliance monitor within the office of the COMBAT Commission from the provisions of the Merit System, be and hereby is authorized; and,

BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that Schedule V to Chapter 2, Jackson County Code, 1984 be and hereby is amended as follows:
