Body
WHEREAS, Summit Technology Academy, a professional learning community operated by the Lee's Summit R-7 School District, sent two teams to the National Youth Cyber Defense Competition held in Washington, D.C. March 26 - 29, 2014; and,

WHEREAS, Summit Technology Academy's Team Sudo placed third in the Open Division of the competition and Team Kernel Panic received the Cisco Networking Championship Trophy; and,

WHEREAS, the National Youth Cyber Defense Competition challenges teams of students to resolve real-life cybersecurity situations in a virtual environment; and,

WHEREAS, the CyberPatriot National Youth Cyber Education Program was created by the Air Force Association to inspire high school students toward careers in cybersecurity or other science, technology, engineering, and/or mathematics disciplines critical to the United States' future; and,

WHEREAS, this is the sixth year of the CyberPatriot competition with nearly 1,600 teams registered to compete from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Canada, and U.S. Department of Defense Dependent Schools in Europe and the Pacific; and,

WHEREAS, the Summit Technology Academy cyber defense teams are led by Coach Lisa Oyler, who was assisted by two professional mentors from the security industry, John Madick of Epiq Systems of Kansas City, Kansas, and Al Franz of the City of Kansas City, Missouri; and,

WHEREAS, members of Team Sudo are Ben Wolff, Cooper Leabo, Cliff Martin, Logan Cousins, Brian Green and Jason Pucilowski; and,

WHEREAS, members of Team Kernel Panic are Henry Londre, Jesse Roberts, Dalton Campbell, Glenn Banhart, Justin Nitz, and Jason Ca...
