Body
WHEREAS, Chapter 56 of the Jackson County Code, 1984, provides for the issuance of seasonal fireworks sales permits to qualified non-profit organizations and to wholesalers and distributors licensed by the State of Missouri; and,

WHEREAS, applications for new permits and renewals were to be filed with the Clerk of the Legislature on or before March 1, 2010; and,

WHEREAS, due to other events occurring in 2010, interested persons or entities may not have been aware of this time limitation; and,

WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of the County to extend the time limit for the 2010 fireworks season; and,

WHEREAS, authorizing the Clerk of the Legislature to accept applications in proper form through regular office hours on April 5, 2010 for non-profit organizations and licensed wholesalers and distributors will not be detrimental to the best interests of the County or its citizens; and,
WHEREAS, the Clerk of the Legislature has no objection to this extension; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Clerk of the Legislature be and hereby is authorized to accept for filing and processing any additional applications for qualified non-profit organizations and licensed wholesalers and distributors through regular office hours on April 5, 2010 and to notify the Legislature on or before April 12, 2010 or such other date as may be set by resolution of the Legislature of the proposed issuance of licenses.
