IN THE COUNTY LEGISLATURE OF JACKSON COUNTY, MISSOURI
Title
A RESOLUTION authorizing the County Executive to execute and submit a grant application with MARC Solid Waste Management District, to be submitted on behalf of Sustain KC, requesting $50,000.00 to promote sustainable building construction and renovation practices, and agreeing to provide $25,000.00 for the County match for a $75,000.00 total project cost.

Body
WHEREAS, Sustain KC is a coalition devoted to enhancing the sustainability of the Kansas City region, with representatives from Jackson County, Johnson County, the Unified Government, Kansas City, MO, the United States Environmental Protection Agency, and others; and,
WHEREAS, if awarded, the requested grant funds will be used to expand the current Jackson County GreenBuild manual to include information on renovating existing structures for improved sustainability, and for education and outreach efforts to encourage developers, builders, and individuals to utilize the ideas in the manual; and,
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens of Jackson County that the County assist Sustain KC with the submission of this grant application; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute and submit a grant application with MARC Solid Waste Management District in the amount of $50,000.00, which grant if awarded will obligate the County to a grant match in the amount of $25,000.00 for a total project cost of $75,000.00; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, if said grant is awarded, the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute any and all documents necessary to effect the acceptance of said grant.
