Body
WHEREAS, by Ordinance 3401, dated August 25, 2003, the Legislature did appropriate $161,000.00 in new grant funds received from the Missouri Department of Public Safety, and transferred matching funds for the Prosecuting Attorney's STOP Violence Against Women Program; and,

WHEREAS, this program is a cooperative effort between the County and the City of Kansas City, Missouri, to prosecute violent crimes against women; and,

WHEREAS, a key component of the program is to provide a portion of the grant funds to the City to be used for staff salaries for city prosecutors and a victim advocate, as well as other expenses of the City's component of the program; and,

WHEREAS, the attached Cooperative Agreement for Services provides a suitable mechanism to continue the City's participation in this program; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute the attached Cooperative Agreement for services with the City of Kansas City, Missouri; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of the Department of Finance be and hereby is authorized to make all payments, including final payment on the Agreement.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
