Body
WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney's Office desires to enter into an Intergovernmental Cooperative Agreement with the City of Kansas City whereby the County will provide funding for the City's Domestic Violence Victim Assistance program; and,

WHEREAS, under the program, the City is to receive an amount not to exceed $73,661.00 for the year 2004, to fund salaries and fringe benefits of employees who work on the Kansas City Domestic Violence Victim Assistance program pursuant to the attached Agreement and Exhibits A and B; and,

WHEREAS, the County desires the services of the City in connection with the Kansas City metropolitan area's comprehensive approach to the domestic violence problem, particularly in the prosecution of domestic violence offenders in municipal court in the City and advocates for victims as well as compiling and tracking data in domestic violence cases due to the statistical correlation between drug abuse and addiction offenses and incidents of domestic violence; and,

WHEREAS, the City is capable of performing the desired services; and,

WHEREAS, the attached Intergovernmental Cooperative Agreement provides a satisfactory mechanism by which to accomplish this purpose; and,

WHEREAS, this Agreement is in the best interest of the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens of the County; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute the attached Intergovernmental Cooperative Agreement with the City of Kansas City, ...
