Body
WHEREAS, by Ordinance 4479, dated November 19, 2012, the Legislature did authorize the acceptance of the Solving Cold Cases with DNA Grant in the amount of $415,829.13, received from the U.S. Department of Justice, for the period October 1, 2012, to March 31, 2014; and,
WHEREAS, by Resolution 18578, dated August 4, 2014, the Legislature did authorize an a seven-month extension of this grant, through October 31, 2014; and,
WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney's Office has requested, and the U.S. Department of Justice has approved, an additional extension of this grant, through October 31, 2015; and,
WHEREAS, the requested extension will allow for the continuation of funding for salary and benefits for the employees of the Jackson County Cold Case Unit through October 31, 2015; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Solving Cold Cases with DNA Grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Justice, be and hereby is extended until October 31, 2015; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Executive and all other County officials be and hereby are authorized to execute any and all documents necessary to the extension.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
