Body
WHEREAS, the Hall Family Matters Award will be presented by the Heart of America Family Services at its seventh annual observance of National Family Week; and,

WHEREAS, this prestigious new award is given to a family which makes a difference in its community, demonstrating an ongoing commitment to addressing community concerns, while receiving the benefits of volunteering together as a family; and,

WHEREAS, the first recipient of this award is the Scott family, consisting of Richard, Mary, Richard Jr., Nick, and Jonathon; and,

WHEREAS, the Scotts have demonstrated a true dedication to helping others by participating and giving of their time to the Special Recreation Division of Jackson County's Parks and Recreation Department; and,

WHEREAS, the Special Recreation Division serves over 2,300 mentally and physically challenged residents of Jackson County, offering outstanding recreational programs; and,

WHEREAS, the Scotts' son, Richard Jr., is a participant in the Special Recreation programs, giving special cause for the family to join him in support of these sporting events; and,

WHEREAS, the Scotts not only travel with participants, but also donate time as surrogate parents, volunteer coaches, and cheerleaders; and,

WHEREAS, sincere gratitude, appreciation, and respect go out to the Scott family for their demonstration of community spirit through commitment to this worthwhile program; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates ...
