Body
WHEREAS, the architectural profession is committed to creating a quality natural environment for all people; and,
WHEREAS, excessive pollution has contributed to the degradation of the ozone layer and the increased levels of carbon dioxide on our planet causing the extinction of plants and animals; and,
WHEREAS, in December 1988, the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Board of Directors approved a comprehensive environmental policy encompassing a broad array of advocacy policies introduced by the Kansas City AIA Chapter; and,
WHEREAS, the AIA developed a resource guide that better educates clients, the public and elected officials to act responsibly in their consideration of planning and design decisions on our environment; and,
WHEREAS, because of the efforts of the Kansas City AIA Chapter, architects are educating clients about architectural practices that are environmentally friendly; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri that the Legislature hereby recognizes the efforts made by the Kansas City AIA Chapter and its contributions to the safety and health of planet Earth and its 35-year anniversary of the passing of the Critical Planet Rescue.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
