Body
WHEREAS, at the direction of the Administration and the ad hoc Risk Insurance Committee, the County's employee benefits consultants, Robert D. O'Byrne & Associates and the McDaniel Hazley Group, have solicited proposals for the providing of employee voluntary permanent whole life insurance, which would supplement the County's existing group term life insurance program; and,
WHEREAS, the consultants received and evaluated proposals from American General Life and Accident, Insurance Co., Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. (Met Life), and Provident Life and Accident Insurance Co; and,
WHEREAS, the consultants and the Risk Insurance Committee recommend that the plan of Met Life be offered to County employees; and,
WHEREAS, under Met Life's plan, employees would be able to purchase permanent whole life insurance in the amount of double their County salaries up to a maximum of $150,000, plus $50,000 coverage for spouses and $25,000 for each child; and,
WHEREAS, Met Life will guarantee the issuance of this insurance subject to two qualifying "health" underwriting questions; and,
WHEREAS, this voluntary permanent whole life insurance will be available at guaranteed rates, will be portable for those who leave the County's employ, and will provide cash value for retirement or other needs; and,
WHEREAS, the offering of this voluntary permanent whole life insurance program to County employees is in the best interests of the health, welfare, and safety, of the citizens of Jackson County; now therefore,
