Body
WHEREAS, the voters of Jackson County, Missouri, approved imposition of a sales tax for seven year to provide funding for the fight against illegal drugs in our community; and,

WHEREAS, the Legislature has authorized, through Ordinance 2373, local matching funds to grants fr m federal and state government agencies and private foundations; and,

WHEREAS, the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation has applied for a grant by the National Institute of Justice of the United States Department of Justice in the amount of $250,000.00, for the purpose f conducting a comprehensive evaluation of the County's anti-drug sales tax; and,

WHEREAS, the Foundation will contribute an additional $125,000.00 of its own funds toward the cost of this evaluation and has requested $125,000.00 in County funding to serve as the remaining one- alf of the required 50% local match to the federal grant; and,

WHEREAS, the Foundation will serve as the lead agency on this evaluation; and,

WHEREAS, in order to fund this proposal, an appropriation from the unappropriated surplus of the 1 95 Anti-Drug Sales Tax Fund is necessary; now therefore,

BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following appropria ion be and hereby is made from the appropriated surplus of the 1995 Anti-Drug Sales Tax Fund:
